Stella No. 17. ALCYONE

Built by Cardnell Bros. 1960. Mahogany on oak. Extensively rebuilt by qualified boat builder 2011 – 15.

Work carried out (not necessarily in this order):

Stripped out cockpit, bulkheads and complete interior.

Replaced approx. 13ft. of rotten port beam shelf, approx 10ft. of shearstrake, 8ft. & 6ft. of

planking.

Cleaned off exterior of hull and repainted.

Cleaned off deck head and interior of coachroof. Painted all interior including bilges.

Cleaned off external cabin and cockpit coamings and painted.

Replaced cabin windows and fitted new stainless steel surrounds.

Removed ballast keel, cleaned off and coated with epoxy resin.

Replaced split wood keel with new one in Iroko.

Made up and fitted new Iroko floors mostly with two bolts per floor.

Refitted ballast keel with new keel bolts.

Rescrewed garboards with silicone bronze screws.

Renewed all centreline bolts.

Removed Yanmar 1 GM engine, repainted and refitted on Iroko engine beds.

Renewed exhaust pipe.

Rebuilt self-draining cockpit and sheathed with epoxy/glass.

Replaced missing fore and half port side decks. Sheathed all decking and cabin top with epoxy/glass and dusted with fine sand to give non-slip surface.

Fitted new 33 litre fuel tank under lifting cockpit sole.

Fitted two new batteries in boxes in cockpit lockers.

Renewed handrails on cabin top.

Renewed bulkheads and rebuilt interior.

Renewed all upholstery.

Fitted new fuse/switch board, new water resistant radio/CD player, new DSC VHF radio.

Fitted new NASA echo sounder.

Fitted new spirit two burner hob.

Fitted new Whale electric automatic bilge pump. Refitted Whale gusher pump in cockpit. locker all with new pipe work.

Made up 9 gall. and 5 gall. water tanks and fitted under saloon sole along with electric pump and faucet.

Made up and fitted stainless steel chain plates.

Made up and fitted galvanised tabernacle, forestay fitting and stemhead roller.

Refitted refurbished pulpit and pushpit and sockets for stanchions..

Fitted stainless steel, folding boarding ladder on transom.

Made up and fitted mahogany rubbing rails, toe rails and cockpit capping.

Fitted solar panel on cabin top to charge batteries.

Fitted all new interior and navigation lights with LED fittings.

Renewed all wiring.

Raked out and paid lands/joints with Sikaflex marine adhesive/sealant.

Replaced sundry copper fastenings.

Stripped down and painted mast. Refurbished and refitted mast fittings. Refitted stainless steel standing rigging and existing running rigging. All in serviceable condition.

Replaced masthead light (LED) and wiring in trunking.

Fitted new WC and overhauled valves.

Existing sails – mainsail, genoa, two jibs and two spinnakers all in useable condition.

Alcyone is currently sitting on her Ifor Williams galvanised trailer in a barn in Pembrokeshire. She is ready to tow away and launch.
